This National Security Agency release is a COMNAVSECGRU report of a visual sighting. The report is undated, and the document was declassified by COMNAVSECGRU on April 30, 1979. It describes a light that pulsed at first and then gave off concentric rings, followed by a reddish-green beam like a searchlight. The beam and core then formed a nebulous cloud that drifted south and faded after about 14 minutes. Weather data are included, and an electrical storm was noted over a city whose name is garbled.

BEAM. FOLLOWING THE DISAPPEARANCE OF THE CIRCLES, THE BEAM SEEMED TO RETRACT TOWARD THE CENTRAL CORE, GROWING BROADER AND STOUTER AS IT RETRACTED. FINALLY, THE BEAM AND CORE SEEMED TO FORM INTO A NEBULOUS CLOUD-SHAPED MASS, WHICH DRIFTED SOUTH ON THE WIND, FADING FROM VIEW AFTER APPROX. 14 MINS. DURING THIS EVENT, THE FOLLOWING ATMOSPHERIC DATA WAS ACCUMULATED: GARDMETER 29.91. TEMPERATURE - 83 DEGREES DRY/78 DEGREES NET. VISIBILITY EXCELLENT, FOUR-TENTHS CLOUD COVER (STRATUS AND CURVULUS).
