This Black Vault release contains the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's March 23, 2017 response to John Greenewald's FOIA request 2017-0368 for UFO records collected since 1975. The NRC withheld identifying information. The records cover three allegation files. The first is a 2010 Region IV case about a former security officer who said a triangular UFO hovered over the protected area at Cooper Nuclear Station between 1986 and 1989. The other two are a 1997 letter claiming DoD flew nuclear-powered craft from New Mexico and a 1998 California complaint.

Additionally, your letter documented your theory of accelerated travel utilizing a mass magnetic equation based on Einstein's Theory of Relativity. We have reviewed your letter and determined that the issues, as described, do not appear to be within the jurisdiction of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and that further action by the NRC is not appropriate. The NRC's scope of responsibility includes regulations of commercial nuclear power reactors, nonpower research, test and training reactors, fuel cycle facilities, medical, academic and industrial uses of nuclear materials, and the transport, storage, and disposal of nuclear materials and waste.
