This Federal Aviation Administration record, dated 2023, is a preliminary report from FAA operations covering activity on July 20, 2023 at 9:40 PM PDT. It says Los Angeles ARTCC was told that Southwest 121, a B737 flying from Phoenix to Burbank, reported an unidentified aerial phenomenon about 100 miles off its left side. At the time the aircraft was westbound at FL240, 20 miles east of Palm Springs, California. The record notes that the crew took no evasive action.
