This Federal Aviation Administration Skywatch incident report, released in 2023, is coded as an unidentified aerial phenomenon and dated October 20, 2024. The Chicago Center facility (ZAU) recorded that the crew of Spirit flight NKS2376, an A320neo flying from Las Vegas to Detroit at FL370, saw a light to their east and below them. The pilot said the light seemed to climb and descend while moving right to left. The last sighting came over Lake Michigan on an eastbound heading. The report is marked closed.

NKS2376 position when reporting was at the ORD220030 and at FL370. NKS2376 reported something that looked like a light to their East and below them. The pilot of NKS2376 advised that the light seemed to be climbing and descending with movement right to left. Controller at sector 81 advised the last time the pilot of NKS2376 referenced seeing the light, they were over Lake Michigan on an East bound heading.
