This Federal Aviation Administration record, released by the Department of Transportation in 2023, logs an unidentified aerial phenomenon report from 3 February 2023. The crew of United Airlines flight UAL1046, a Boeing 737-800 flying from Chicago O'Hare to Seattle, was westbound at FL360, 37 nautical miles northeast of Sioux City. They reported a lighted object above them that appeared to be maneuvering at about FL400 or higher. Minneapolis Center (ZMP) filed the report, and its status is marked closed.
