This Federal Aviation Administration record, released by the Department of Transportation in 2023, logs an unidentified aerial phenomenon report from 2 February 2023. The crew of ASA18, a commercial Boeing 737-900 flying from Portland (PDX) to New York (JFK), reported a balloon off the left side while eastbound at FL350, about 10 NM southeast of Billings. They estimated its altitude at FL400 to FL450. The report was handled by HQ DEN and is marked closed.
