This 1970 USAF Office of Information file from the 21st Air Division at Hancock Field, Syracuse, collects community relations correspondence. It includes Enrico Grimaldi's report of faint star-like objects seen over Commack, Long Island on November 21, 1970, and Major Francis C. Moriarty's reply. The reply notes that Project Blue Book ended December 17, 1969, so the Air Force would not investigate. The file also holds a draft article on NORAD and SAGE, survey requests, thank-you letters and press tour messages.

## NORAD CONTRIBUTES TO DEFENSE PLUS ECONOMY By Joseph Albino Picture yourself holding a huge umbrella over the vastness of the United States and Canada; an umbrella that protects this great nation from attack by bomb-carrying planes and air-breathing missiles. This is the picture of NORAD: The North American Air Defense Command with headquarter facilities carved out of a huge mountain in Cheyenne Wyoming. Colorado Springs, Colo. Here in the northeast, including the New England states (except for the northern half of Maine), part of Pennsylvania, and New York State, our skies overhead are protected by the 21ST NORAD REGION. Commanded by Major General V. Williams, 21ST's headquarters offices are located in the massive SAGE building at Hancock Airport, in Syracuse, and are staffed by U.S. Air Force, Army, Navy and Canadian military personnel.
