This is an FBI Freedom of Information/Privacy Acts release on Silas Newton. It includes a 1951 internal memo about inquiries from the California Attorney General's office. That office asked about Newton because he was cited as an authority in Frank Scully's 1950 book "Behind the Flying Saucers." The FBI reported that Newton had a 1936 New York arrest for grand larceny. It also recommended telling California that Lee Gebauer may be Lee Julius Arnold Gebauer, who was convicted in federal court at Tucson in 1944.

By letter dated June 22, 19.1, Mr. Robinson was advised that Bureau files fail to reflect any information identifiable with this individual. A copy of the reply to Mr. Robinson was furnished to the Phoenix Office for information.
