This Defense Intelligence Agency info memo, dated 30 October 2009, reviews the first-year technical reports delivered under the Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications contract with Bigelow Aerospace Advanced Space Studies (BAASS). It lists 26 reports delivered in FY 2009, on topics including antigravity, warp drives and invisibility cloaking, and quotes excerpts from independent and Sandia National Laboratories reviews, all of them positive. It adds that Congress will apparently fund option year one at $12 million.

numbers in the thousands. As many recenf US Academy of Sciences and or her
scholarly s!udies have shown, Jew persons in rhe decision-making areas of !he
government have sufficient background in BioMEMSfrom which to make
intelligent decisions. As key customers of this study, the sponsors are ivell-served
withl(b)(6) Isurvey. Throughout the Survey, the author offen introduces
ancillary technoloiies that will enable.further BioMEMS development, solve
problems, or lead to alternatit1e technologies. The survey is made more usefl1l to
the reader and the sponsor because of this.

Metallic Spintronics
(b)(6) paper is concerned ivith an emerging technology known as
~,p~,~n~tr~,~"~117.cj~.,.i_,pin-hased electronics"). In this technology information is carried
by moving or altering the spin of electrons, rather than by moving the charged
particles themselves. (b)(6)
~~---------------------~l(b)(6) lhas at least a dozen publications in the.field of stud.v in top-tier
journals, and has won NSF grams to pursue the topic. As a result one must regard
him as an experl in the subject and lake his opinions seriously. In addition, !he
paper cites 97 references, which is qui le a lot for a /0,000 ivord paper. Clearly,
Tsoi is giving an overview of the entire field rather tlwnjust supplying an
incremental addition to it.

Materials for Advanced Aerospace Platforms
l(b)(6) I
The position l(b)(6) ltakes at the first instant is that previous design
methodologies have largely.failed, because of a lack of appreciation of material
property l!fe cycles, which are clearly now known to be very d{fferent. ff one is to
examine, for example, in an at/empt to reverse engineer materials and components
possibly ofinteresl, one might want lo approach the "reverse" paradigm from firs!
principles of materials in contexts of observed performance. l(b)(6) lat the
beginning of the study subtl_v suggests that observed performance ... or even
claimed performance ... may be a better starting point.
