This material from the Haines papers at the American Heritage Center contains US Air Force Office of Special Investigations reports from November 1949. They cover a special inquiry into unconventional aircraft. An Eastern Air Lines captain was interviewed in Atlanta on 6 October 1949. He described a wingless, cigar-shaped object with two rows of lighted windows and a red flame, seen at 0340 on 23 July 1948 southwest of Montgomery, Alabama. A follow-up report closed the inquiry.

No other pertinent information was developed and all outstanding loads have been investigated, therefore this report is considered closed by this office.
