This Central Intelligence Agency release contains the report of a Scientific Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects. The panel met at the request of the Assistant Director for Scientific Intelligence and reviewed evidence, mainly from the Air Technical Intelligence Center. It concluded that UFOs posed no direct physical threat to national security, but that continued emphasis on reporting them could clog communications and invite hysteria. It recommended stripping UFOs of their special status and educating the public. Three further pages are exempt.
