This is a Central Intelligence Agency memorandum from H. Marshall Chadwell, Assistant Director for Scientific Intelligence, released in 2001. It asks for unvouchered funds to pay fees, per diem and travel for a small panel of scientists advising on the unidentified flying objects problem. The panel was to meet in Washington, D.C. in January and February 1953. The memo estimates the cost at about $5,400 and attaches a cost breakdown for three consultants.

Following the decision of the IAG Meeting, 7 December 1952, the D/E/ST was directed to make use of a panel of scientists to advise in the investigation of the problem of "mildidentified flying objects". The purpose of this monarchism is to request approval of unvouchered funds to cover payment of fees, per diee, and travel of this group to meetings in Washington, D. C. 2. Instituted funds required for two series of rentings of probably not more than three consultants in Washington total $5,490.00. A breakdown of this cost estimate is appended as Tab A. It is believed that at this time a small group can best accomplish the desired review of the problem. 3. Accordingly, it is requested that approval be granted for unvouchered funds for meetings during January and February estimated at 5,400.00. 25X1A N.
