This Central Intelligence Agency release contains an FBI transmittal letter signed by J. Edgar Hoover, forwarded to the CIA's Deputy Director for Plans, along with a November 1969 FBI memorandum about Martin Bormann. An informant of unknown reliability claimed Bormann was living in a compound near Asuncion, Paraguay, that had underground laboratories, and gave his opinion that it could be a base for flying saucers. A second source described the informant as a known liar with a criminal record.
Martin Bormann -- the fact that he learned from a plastic surgeon in Brazil, that this surgeon had performed a facial operation on Bormann. NY T-1 stated that while at the compound, he learn- .ed-that-there .were underground laboratories, bat did-.not know the nature of the work being done in these laboratories, He said that it is his own personal opinion that this"-could well be a base for flying saucers. NY T-2, who has furnished reliable information in - the past, furnished the following information concerning NY T-1 in February, 1969: t In 1957, NY T-1 was arrested in Tel Aviv, Israel, on the charge of obtaining money by.false pretenses, conspi- racy to commit a felony and uttering a false document. He was sentenced to two and one-half years in prison, He was released on parole on February 14, 1960, According to NY T-2, NY T-1 is wantd 5n Gcr.ny for theft of gems, and is a kno:wn liar and has incurred many civil suits in various European countries. - S-The files of the Passport Office, Department of State, Washington, D. C., contain a report from the American Embassy at Tel Aviv, dated December 20, ].°49, cor :rning NY T-l. The American Embassy report noted that NY . was pre- occupied with some unusual theories and that he showed some mild mental aberrations. ., ,... - .U.-_- ------
