This Central Intelligence Agency personality (201) dossier on Sandelio Herminio Diaz Garcia holds material dated from November 1956 to August 1975 and was approved for release in 2025. It contains 1966 intelligence cables on a 29 May 1966 exile infiltration attempt near Havana, in which Diaz was reported killed while trying to assassinate Fidel Castro. It also includes a report on cancelled assassination plans, 1973 traces linking a Herminio Diaz to narcotics trafficking, and FBI file listings. The dossier contains no UFO material.

A Cuban emigré with excellent contacts in the Movimiento Revolucionario del Pueblo (MRP, Revolutionary Movement of the People). He has been an accurate reporter on this organization and on general emigré political developments since about mid- 1962.
Field Comment: There have been a series of alleged plots to assassinate Fidel Castro Ruz, planned by various emigrés and emigré groups in Miami. Three plots which have been reported are those planned by Herminio Diaz Garcia, Reinaldo Padron, and Jose Prince and "Tito" Pelaez. However, a recent report from an independent source reported that Padron had canceled his plan to assassinate Castro.
1. On 15 March 1966 Jose Prince and "Tito" Pelaez said that they had met "major obstacles" in their plan to assassinate Fidel Castro Ruz, and that unless "some practical plan presented itself within one month" they would try to sell some of their equipment and use the proceeds to pay unspecified debts.
2. On 17 March Herminio Diaz Garcia said that he was forced to cancel his plan to assassinate Castro because of the arrest in Cuba of Efigenio Ameijeiras Delgado, who was his friend and his contact in Cuba for his assassination plan. $ ^{2} $
1. Field Comment. TDCSDB-315/00206-66, from the same source, reported that Prince and Pelaez said that the plan to assassinate Castro, and the financial arrangements therefor, were complete, except for some minor last-minute expenses.
