It lists upcoming declassification panel meetings, reports on an External Referral Working Group meeting, and quotes a 1953 letter from General Counsel Lawrence Houston. It also summarizes FOIA requests, including several nearly identical requests from Woodland, California about Area 51, Majestic 12 and Roswell. The CIA says it holds no information on the alleged Roswell event and has not located Majestic 12 records.

Overview of IRR Activities Last Week: (U//Al'U-O) OIM Declassification Center (U//ATUO) External Referral Working Group (ERWG) (U//H-B-6) On 18 April, the External Referral Working Group (ERWG) met in Washington at USAID, chaired OIM Declassification Center (ODC). Among the agenda items, the Group planned the creation of a working group to recommend revisions to Executive Order 12958. Also, the DIA presented "Using the Intelink for Declassification", and the ERWG Secretariat distributed the Group's "Report for Fiscal Years: 1999 - 2000" and "Who's Who in Declassification." (U//Al-LLO) From the Archives: In 1953, General Counsel Houston Outlines His Philosophy on Building Successful Legal Staff - (U//A.l-U-O) In 1953 General Counsel Lawrence Houston outlined his views of building a top notch legal staff in a letter to the Federal Bar Association that was recently reviewed by the DCI team at the OIM Declassification Center. "l am particularly fortunate in having been able to keep my staff small and therefore run it more or less in the nature of a private firm....
