This Central Intelligence Agency telegram information report, dated 20 July 1960, describes an unidentified flying object seen at about 1600 GMT on 17 July 1960 over Behshahr, Iran. Witnesses said it was in view for about 15 to 20 seconds, moving from southeast to northwest. They said it made a gradual turn west and appeared to burn out before disappearing over the horizon. The report describes a subsonic sound like air passing through a tube, a low, flat trajectory and a circular shape. It also notes a bright aquamarine glow with a white and red tail.

SUBJECT UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT GIOTED AT BENSHAER 1. AN UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECT WAS SIGHTED AT APPROXIMATELY 1600 GREENWICH MEAN TIME ON 17 JULY 1960. TRAVELLING IN A SOUTHEAST TO NORTHWEST DIRECTION OVER PUSHAHR, IRAN (36° 46' N - 53° 34' E). THE OBJECT WAS IN VIEW AN ESTIMATED 15 TO 20 SECONDS. SEVERAL INDIVIDUALS WHO SAW THE OBJECT STATED THAT AFTER PASSING OVER HISHAHR. IT MADE A GRADUAL TURN WEST BEFORE BURNING OUT. ALL WHO SAW THE OBJECT AFFEED THAT IT APPEARED TO BURN OUT BEFORE DISAPPEARING OVER THE HORIZON. 2. SPEED WAS SUB-SONIC AS HEARD BEFORE SIGHTING; SOUND OF VARIABLE LIGHT 1.
