This CIA office memorandum, dated 26 October 1957 and addressed to AD/SI, records a call from Robertson. The Air Force had asked him for permission to declassify the conclusions of the "Report of the Scientific Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects," which OST organized in January 1953. The request came from Maj. James F. Byrne of AFCIN-X1A. The writer told Robertson the matter would be examined, asked that Byrne make direct contact, and planned to act on it on returning.

Robertson called to tell me that Air Force had approached him for permission to declassify the conclusions of the "Report of the Scientific Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects", which OST organized in January 1953. The request had come to Robertson from Maj. James F. Byrne of AFCIN-X1A (ext. 74903). I told Robertson we would examine the matter and Maj. Byrne should contact me directly. I will take the necessary action on this on my return.
