This is a CIA memorandum dated 10 November 1955 from the Assistant Director for Scientific Intelligence, about reports of guided missiles or flying objects in Afghanistan. The memo says the office cannot determine what the observed object was or how it was used, and it asks for further details and any debris. It notes that an attached army report closely resembles a United Press article, also attached, about a disc-like craft that local residents saw near a Soviet base.

Kabul: Afghanistan, October 16, 2017 the witness reports rosening Fabal said today the havists are testing a revolutionary battle-armed aircraft at a base in the remote and mountainous regions of north afghanistan. More than 1000 residents of the Afghan "corridor" - a flagger of land felling eastward towards ad Dhina - reported seeing the strange craft which Liay first said imbed like a "flying saucer." The description of the aerials was almost identical. They said it was a spoon like a noodle bottle about 20 feet wide, thus "plan" extending down from the action edge apparently similar to the now United States flying platform. Fire appeared to be shooting out of the top cut from the bottom and there was a "big wipe" which officials took to be the downward thrust of the air at high speed. The craft had a blue band around the middle and port holes, witnesses said. The aircraft was seen on two separate occasions. Each time it apparently took off from the Russian field, flow along the corridor at a low altitude, notched, went up and down, and then sped away to the north at high speed. officials said the natives of the regions were familiar with modern way jets, helicopters and airlifts. They were questioned when reports of "flying success" reached the northeast Afghanistan town of Fafnuel three weeks ago.
