This is a Central Intelligence Agency letter dated 30 July 1958 from Philip G. Strong to Dr. Thornton Page of Chevy Chase, Maryland. Strong thanks Page for a copy of Page's 10 July letter to Leon Davidson and says that letter should help quiet the furor Davidson had raised. Strong also asks for a copy of Davidson's 6 July letter about flying saucers. He notes that the agency had never obtained a precise statement of why Davidson devoted so much effort to the matter.

Dr. Thornton Page 7100 Connecticut Avenue Chevy Chase 15 Maryland Dear Dr. Page: Thank you very much for sending me the copy of your letter of 10 July to Mr. Leon Davidson. This letter should do much to quiet down the large furor which Mr. Davidson has raised around the community. For our information, I would appreciate it very much if you could send me a copy of his 6 July letter in which he expresses the cause of his concern over flying saucers. So far we have never been able to get a precise statement from him as to why he is devoting so much time and effort to the matter. Kindest personal regards. Very sincerely, Philip G.
