This undated CIA letter from Philip G. Strong, Deputy Assistant Director, to Dr. Thornton Page of Johns Hopkins University concerns an Air Force request to declassify the conclusions of the January 1953 Scientific Advisory Panel on UFOs, chaired by H. P. Robertson, so the Air Force could use them in the press. Strong writes that Robertson, Goudsmit and the Agency support releasing only some paragraphs and want the Panel's link to the CIA withheld. He asks Page for his view and whether the members' names may be used.

It would be very much appreciated if you could let me know as soon as possible that your reaction is to the Air Force declassification proposal; whether you agree with Dr. Robertson, Dr. Coudsuit and myself on limiting any declassification; and whether you would approve or disapprove the use of your names, granted that Agency connection with the Panel is withheld.
