This is an unclassified Foreign Broadcast Information Service report sent from FBIS Okinawa on 19 February 1993. It relays a Kyodo news item from Tokyo saying that officials at Japan's Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) plan to set up a research institute, likely in 1995, for scientific study of art, culture and parapsychology, including telepathy, clairvoyance and UFOs, for application to next-generation industry. The MITI panel behind the plan was to draft an interim report by May.
