This FBIS translation, dated 17 August 1989, carries a Bulgarian news item that ran in Sofia's RABOTNICHESKO DELO on 11 August 1989. The paper said a recent report of a UFO landing near Moscow turned out to be the burning of a large amount of dry grass. It then warned that Bulgarian farms slow to collect straw might burn it in their fields, which is banned. The item lists straw collection figures by oblast and describes the ecological damage that stubble burning causes.
