This Central Intelligence Agency memorandum, dated 1967, answers a speed letter of 30 January 1967 requesting analysis of UFO photographs. Analysts examined copy prints rather than originals, comparing grain, edge sharpness and changes in image size between prints. They concluded that the photographs could not establish whether the object was a genuine UFO or a model. Several factors were said to fit the model theory, and the memo noted that analysing the original photographs might allow a definite conclusion.

SUBJECT: Answer to Request of Speed Letter dated 30 January 1967 1. Analysis of the UID large on the provided photography was performed to the limited extent permitted by the copy prints. It must be remembered that the conclusions presented are based on the examination of cases rather than the originals. The copying or copy walls not only the grain and texture characteristics of the original image, but also any distort the recovery of restoration even when the exact enlargement parameters are known. In this case, these parameters are unknown. 2. The following two accrued for the basis of this analysis. The accuracy of these accruations, however, is questioned. a. The total enlargement factor of print one and three in the sense. b. The total enlargement factor of prints two and five is the same. e. The total enjoyment factor of prints one and three is approximately two times that of prints two and three. ## 3. Analysis: a. The eastern of apparent grain clawing to shallar on prints one and three and on prints two and five. b. The colour of the UFO image are more sharply defined in print than do those of the helice star image in print three. T-13
