This Central Intelligence Agency memorandum, signed by Philip G. Strong, Deputy Assistant Director/Collection, Scientific Intelligence, and addressed to the Deputy Director for Coordination, reports on contacts with Dr. M. K. Jessup about meteor study in Mexico and flying saucers. Jessup referred the Agency to Wayne Aho, who met with two CIA specialists. The memo attaches notes of that conversation and a George Dixon Washington Post column, and concludes the Agency has nothing to gain from further follow-up.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy Director for Coordination SUBJECT: Flying Saucers 1. As a result of your telephone call of July 8th, Dr. Chamberlain, Chief of the Fundamental Science Division, at my request contacted Dr. M. K. Jessup at the Physical Sciences Integration Committee. Dr. Chamberlain discussed with Dr. Jessup the two subjects you mentioned as of interest to him, i.e., meteor study in Mexico and flying saucers. In regard to the first, Dr. Jessup indicated that he felt the Agency would have little interest in the matter and that he, himself, was concerned primarily with securing financing to further his exploration work in Mexico. 2. In regard to flying saucers, Dr. Jessup referred us to Mr. Wayne Aho and through the Office of Operations we arranged to have a meeting with Mr. Aho which was attended by two specialists from this Office - Mr. Herbert Powers of Applied Science Division, who covers aircraft for us, and Mr. Wilson Angle of our Fundamental Science Division, who is a geophysicist. For your information, I am attaching hereto a copy of the report to me of the conversation with Mr. Aho. Also, of possible interest, is a clipping of George Dixon's column in the Washington Post of 26 July concerning Mr. Aho. 3. He feel that we have nothing to gain in further follow-up in this matter and I am passing the information along to you solely because of Mr. Jho's connection with Dr. Jeseup. PHILIP C.
