This Central Intelligence Agency memorandum for the record is dated 1956 and was signed by Herbert Scoville, Jr., Assistant Director for Scientific Intelligence. It rescinds a 14 June 1954 memorandum on office responsibilities for non-conventional types of air vehicles. From then on, ASD would monitor all available information on the subject and keep the Office of Scientific Intelligence files on it. Other OSI divisions were to give ASD technical consulting help, send it their files and stop their own filing on the subject.

MEMORANDUM FOR THE RECORD SUBJECT : Office Responsibilities for Non-Conventional Types of.Air Vehicles REFERENCE: Memorandum for the Record, 14 June 1954, this subject 1. Reference memorandum is hereby rescinded. 2. Henceforth, ASD will conduct all surveillance of available information on this subject. All other OSI Divisions will provide such technical consultative assistance to ASD as it requires to discharge its assigned responsibility in this field. ASD will request a project of the requisite scope when appropriate for inclusion in the OSI Production Program. 3. ASD will maintain the OSI files on this subject.
