This CIA memorandum dated 6 September 1955 records a traveler's account of an unusual flying object seen from a train at about 7:10 PM, while four members of a party rode in a sleeping car. The witnesses saw a reddish glow like a searchlight on the horizon, then an object with two white lights like eyes that rose vertically and passed over the train silently in about five seconds. The file also includes interrogation notes and interviews describing a rotating, balloon-like shape, and it records that a porter pulled the shades soon afterward.

1. The object was in the air, rising slightly above the horizon when just seen. 2. It appeared as a shadowy object which slowly rotated as it ascended. This object must sound aided like a partially inflated trallon. It had all light on the top. There were several lights or sets on the outer edge. The object moved upward and slowly left them rapidly moved across the train platform a jet. 3. The object was departed to be about 30° ahead of the train, crossed directly over 90°. The train was moving at about 30MPH. This would make the speed of the type about 60MPH. Even if only 10°
