This CIA memorandum dated 6 September 1955 records a traveler's account of an unusual flying object seen from a train at about 7:10 PM, while four members of a party rode in a sleeping car. The witnesses saw a reddish glow like a searchlight on the horizon, then an object with two white lights like eyes that rose vertically and passed over the train silently in about five seconds. The file also includes interrogation notes and interviews describing a rotating, balloon-like shape, and it records that a porter pulled the shades soon afterward.

MEMORANDUM FOR: Chief, SUBJECT: Observation of Flying Object Near During my trip inside the city was a number of enthusiastic members of the party, I saw one of four persons who observed an unusual flying object in the area. Following are the details of my can observation of this object, to the best of my recollection: 1. Our trip from the station to the tablea available in advance and we were originally scheduled to leave during daylight. Apparently the train officials responsible did not know about certain changes which had been made in the train schedules, and our schedule was altered in. We left about 1800 hours on Tuesday. Our associations were in a "soft" sleeping car of the international type, consisting of six two-person compartments. The car was occupied as follows: Compartment 1. - Portes 2. Probably empty 3. - 4. - Hypole and a soldier, an American civilian who was traveling on private business. 5. - A general who wore a hat with a 6. - A young civilian, about 25 years old, probably The car was arranged with compartments all on one side, the left side as one faced forward, with an aisle on the right side. There were windows in the compartments and on the outside of the aisle, but not in the aisle wall of the compartments. However, during the time of the observation, the door to my compartment was open, so that movement of persons in the aisle would have been observable. My recollection is that the window of my compartment may have been open a little way from the top. Prior to the time of observation, were all together in compartment 4. 2.
