This Central Intelligence Agency letter, dated January 1957, was signed by Herbert Scoville, Jr., Assistant Director, and sent to Mr. John P. Anderson of Cocoa Beach, Florida. It acknowledges receipt of Anderson's letter of 4 January 1957, which reported an unidentified flying object. Scoville thanks him for the report and for his additional comments. The letter says nothing about what was seen and gives no analysis or conclusion. It carries an Office of Scientific Intelligence routing notation dated 16 January 1957.
