This Central Intelligence Agency compilation of translated Argentine press and radio items from May 1978, approved for release in 1980, includes an EFE report from Salta. Official sources said an object seen falling near the Argentine-Bolivian border on 6 May, which caused an explosion that shook the earth, was an artificial satellite located on Taire Mountain in Bolivia, where the area was declared an emergency zone. Other items cover nuclear plans, arrests, a YPF credit and briefs.
