This Central Intelligence Agency information report, numbered CS-3/429,841 and distributed on 9 March 1960, concerns the Kazakh SSR in the USSR. It relays a 1959 rumor from the town of Sary Ozek that glittering objects had often been seen flying at high speed over the desert west of the town, accompanied by explosive sounds. The report adds that many Kazakhs and Tajiks were believed to have left the area out of superstitious fear of the objects.

It was believed that many Karekhs and Tadshiks had left the area out of superstitious fear of these flying objects.
