This NICAP-hosted Blue Book file, credited to Brad Sparks, collects 1949 US Air Force Office of Special Investigations reports on a disc seen over the Rogue River near Gold Beach, Oregon, on 24 May 1949. It includes signed statements from fishing party members, among them staff from the NACA Ames Laboratory at Moffett Field, along with character references and interview forms. The witnesses describe a silvery circular object with a fin that flew silently. Investigators noted that radar test kites might have drifted that far north.

June , California . 26 July 1949 During the latter part of May 1947 at approximately 16:30 in the afternoon, while fishing in a boat on the Isque River near Gold Beach, Oregon together with my wife, my attention was attracted by a silvery object in the sky, traveling at a height of approximately 5000 feet in a southly direction. The object, circular in formation, as a silver dollar, traveled without sound at a speed greater than that of a high-speed or jet plane. I saw the object which was visible to the naked eye for approximately two minutes. It using the binoculars I could not make out any string start of formation, or whether the object took a motor or motor, landing year, or other items usually connected with a plane. It had no appearance of the conventional plane but in sight would be of the diameter of the fuselage length of the 18.0-3 plane. I have fished in the general area a number of years and observed various type planes flying in this area, but no paper observed anything of this nature.
