Further confirmation came from the testimony of Mrs. Clyde Russell, near whose home the Muscarello sighting was made. She told how, on the evening of September 2nd, between 9:30 and 10 p.m., she watched a brilliant red object about the size of a full moon cross the sky over her home and disappear in the distance. This was about four hours previous to the sighting by young Muscarello in the same area.

Also, shortly before Muscarello's arrival at the Exeter police station, Officer Bertrand talked to two women parked in an automobile on Route 101, just out of town. Bertrand asked the ladies if they needed help, and the driver told him that, as she was driving from nearby Epping, N.H., a flying object had circled her car, giving off a brilliant red glow. She went on to say that it dived at her car several times before departing. Unfortunately, Bertrand did not take the names of these women, so they cannot be reached to add their evidence to the already impressive file we now have on the mysterious Exeter Case.

The two police officers and several other people were questioned by Air Force officers from Pease Air Force Base. The policemen were asked to keep the incident from the press, so as to "avoid alarming the local people." But it was too late, as several reporters already had the story. There was a rumor that an Air Force officer went to stores selling the Manchester (N.H.) Union Leader - containing the story - and bought up all the copies. This rumor was of course denied.

A phone call by SAUCER NEWS to the Air Force UFO spokesman at the Penta-gon revealed that the sighting by the two policemen is carried on their books as an UNKNOWN.
