This NICAP compilation gathers Air Force Project Blue Book and related records on a 24 April 1949 sighting three miles north of Arrey, New Mexico, where a balloon crew from White Sands Proving Ground tracked a white ellipsoid object with a theodolite for about 60 seconds. It includes the observer's statement, a Project 10073 record card concluding UNIDENTIFIED, a 17 May 1949 OSI special inquiry report from Kelly AFB, and a completed investigation questionnaire. It also contains extracts from the Project Grudge report, including Dr. Hynek's incident index.

With 104 incidents thus eliminated, there remain thirty-four which contain some evidence but have no apparent ready explanation. This statement is true only under the assumption that the evidence is adopted as reliable and accurate. These errors in identifying truth stimuli result chiefly from inability to estimate speed, distance, and also. All of the remaining 34 incidents are treated in detail in this report. These incidents form no pattern in regard to area of activity, type of object, or manner of performance. There are indications, however, that such sightings were influenced by earlier reports, and probably would not have been considered unusual or reported by then no publicity.
