This is the July 1966 third edition of Dr. Leon Davidson's "Flying Saucers: An Analysis of the Air Force Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14", published by Ramsey-Wallace Corp. It reproduces early Air Force press releases, the 1953 CIA panel report, the 1966 Blue Book release and the full text of the May 1955 Special Report No. 14 with its tables and codes. Davidson also gives his view that the CIA was responsible for much saucer publicity.

Dear Sir: At Room 2E-765 in the Pentagon, a copy of the summary reports and opinions concerning unidentified aerial objects is available for your examination. The Office of Public Information is open from 9:00 AM until 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday. No appointment is necessary to see this document; an officer will be present to aid you in any way. I have taken the liberty of inclosing a brief summary of the study on "flying saucers", and a copy of a recent Air Force statement on this subject. DE WITT R. SEARLES Lt. IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 3, 1952 IN ANSWER TO INQUIRIES: The Air Force has not discontinued the study of unidentified flying objects (popularly known as "flying saucers"). It is true that this study has changed from a special project to a general function. This means that the Air Force placed the evaluation of these sightings in normal staff channels. Every attempt is made to investigate sightings reported to the Air Force. In most cases, these sightings have proved to be weather balloons and natural phenomena. There remain, however, a number of reported sightings that cannot be thus explained, and as long as this is true, the Air Force will continue to study the problem. USAF Field Commands have been alerted to report unconventional aerial objects in an effort to obtain additional information. The public should not interpret these continued efforts to mean that new evaluations have been made, or that new conclusions have been reached. This is not the case. Detailed reports and particularly photographs from people who have sighted unusual aerial manifestations will be welcome. Reports may be submitted to the nearest USAF installation and to be of value should contain as much detail as possible. END ENCLOSED WITH LETTER FROM AIR FORCE DATED APRIL 21,1952
