This is a case resolution report from the U.S. Department of Defense's All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), dated February 6, 2025. It covers the January 2015 "Go Fast" infrared video that a Navy F/A-18F recorded off Florida. AARO worked only from the public video and found the object was at about 13,000 feet, not near the ocean surface, and moved at roughly 5 to 92 mph. The report attributes the apparent high speed to motion parallax and states with high confidence that the object showed no anomalous performance.
UNCLASSIFIED 22 UNCLASSIFIED Results A summary of the results for the distance traveled, intrinsic speed, and relative heading with respect to wind direction are provided in Table III for the four directional cases considered. The wind direction at 3,692 m, the altitude of the UAP, was calculated by adding 10° to the direction at 7,620 m, the altitude of the F/A-18 (see Figure 10). The wind directions in the Table III are again with respect to the position of the F/A-18 at t1. Table III: UAP speed and heading with windspeed considered. Visualizations To visualize the F/A-18 flight paths shown in Figure 11 and the directions with respect to the winds at altitude, they were placed on a map. Instead of relative to the F/A-18, the wind directions will now be defined assuming the wind was blowing from 255° as reported. Figure 15 displays the four flight directions on a map with the F/A-18 placed in an arbitrary location off the east coast of Florida. While the directions and relative lengths of the paths are accurate, the exact locations and path lengths are for visualization purposes only. To visualize the UAP speed and heading they were also placed on the map off the coast of Florida.
