This is Government Attic's posting of a 1969 Library of Congress annotated bibliography, UFOs and Related Subjects, compiled by Lynn E. Catoe for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The Defense Technical Information Center released it under FOIA in November 2014. The bibliography lists more than 1,600 items and was requested to support the University of Colorado UFO study led by Edward U. Condon. Its preface concludes that no simple, single explanation of the UFO phenomenon applies to all cases.

Postulating that the public has become accustomed to readily accepting the incredible, the author says it is difficult to find a scientist who will publicly dispute what appears to be patently ridiculous. Following conclusions emerged as the result of Industrial Research inquiry into status of University of Colorado UFO study: (1) the project does not stress investigation of the people doing the observing, rather than of physical phenomena; (2) there appears to be no effort in the study directed at a serious evaluation of extraterrestrial hypotheses; (3) a follow-on investigation apparently will be proposed in the final report, in a chapter that treats future government handling of UFOs.
