Government Attic · 419 pages · text from the file's own layer

This is Government Attic's posting of a 1969 Library of Congress annotated bibliography, UFOs and Related Subjects, compiled by Lynn E. Catoe for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The Defense Technical Information Center released it under FOIA in November 2014. The bibliography lists more than 1,600 items and was requested to support the University of Colorado UFO study led by Edward U. Condon. Its preface concludes that no simple, single explanation of the UFO phenomenon applies to all cases.

The fiercest opposition to hypotheses supporting the reality of flying saucers
has always come from those who adopt a materialistic view of the universe,
the author states. ~t would seem that those who have closed their minds
against the mystery of religion have automatically rejected any other mystf~ry,
and this may explain both the conspiracy of silence and the policy of conven-
tionalizing as many as possible of the otherwise inexplicable UFO sightings,
he adds.
