Government Attic · 419 pages · text from the file's own layer

This is Government Attic's posting of a 1969 Library of Congress annotated bibliography, UFOs and Related Subjects, compiled by Lynn E. Catoe for the Air Force Office of Scientific Research. The Defense Technical Information Center released it under FOIA in November 2014. The bibliography lists more than 1,600 items and was requested to support the University of Colorado UFO study led by Edward U. Condon. Its preface concludes that no simple, single explanation of the UFO phenomenon applies to all cases.

Authors report that 1967 brbught an unprecedented number of UFO landings,
low-level hovering maneuve.rs, and landings with occupants visible. They
suggest that the almost constant UFO activity from 1965 to the present indicii:es
that close approaches of the planet to Mars to earth is no longer a factor;
there are no longer cyclical recurrences of UFO activity peaks. An inter-
pretation of this might be that UFOs are interplanetary in or·igin and the
occupants have established bases close enough to earth so that long journeys
are no longer ne"essary, the authors say.
