This is the printed record of a July 29, 1968 symposium on unidentified flying objects held by the Committee on Science and Astronautics of the U.S. House of Representatives, chaired by Rep. J. Edward Roush. The committee heard statements from six scientists: J. Allen Hynek, James E. McDonald, Carl Sagan, Robert L. Hall, James A. Harder and Robert M. L. Baker. It also printed papers from Donald Menzel, Stanton Friedman, Frank Salisbury and others. Hynek argued that puzzling UFO reports from competent witnesses deserve serious scientific study.

163 Sensory Examination: There is no impairment of vibration sense, position, pain, or light touch. Chaddock, Oppenheim, and Gordon reflexes are also down-going. Superficial Abdominals react equally bilaterally. Motor Function: Good strength both proximally and distally in upper and lower extremities. Wrist flexors and extensors are equal bilaterally; grip is strong bilaterally. Other Cortical Tests: Frontal Lobe: No suck, grasp, snout, or palmomental reflexes. Temporal Lobe: No hemianopsia on confrontation. Parietal Lobe: No stereognosis, bimanual extinction, or impaired 2 -pointdiscrimination. Occipital Lobe: See Section III (Neuro-ophthalmology). Autonomic Function: There is no abnormal sweat level and no flushing is inevidence. C. Pertinent Laboratory Studies: Blood: Normal Value Subject Calcium 9 - 11 mg/100 ml. 9.3 mg/100m1.
