This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 10) holds UFO-related correspondence from 1966 to 1977. In a 1966 letter, Florence C. Dow of Goffstown, New Hampshire asked whether subscribing to the Amalgamated Flying Saucer Clubs of America journal might link her to communists. J. Edgar Hoover replied that the Bureau does not evaluate organizations, and a copy of the journal is enclosed. Other items include a 1977 Air Force fact sheet on the end of Project Blue Book and a White House inquiry answered by the FBI, which said it had no jurisdiction over UFO sightings.

This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

He advised that Jody Powell of the President ' s sta ff has raised the question as to whether or not there is any coordination within the Executive Branch relating to information concerning this subject . He stated that the U. S . Air Force had closed their investigation of these matters several years ago and currently does nothing but refer such information to appropriate local authorities . I advised him that as far as the FBI is concerned there appears to be no conceivable jurisdiction for us to oono,μct any inquiries upon receipt of information relating to a UFO sighting and , in the absence of some investigative jurisdiction based upon the information furnished , that information would be referred to the Department of the Air Force without any action being taken by the Bureau.
