This section of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's flying saucer file 62-HQ-83894 holds FBI correspondence from 1957 to 1966. It includes a November 1957 memo saying Air Force Intelligence found the post-Sputnik sightings nonauthentic, and a Havana report of a hat-shaped disc over Matahambre, Cuba. It also has inquiries into Robert T. Stone's Inter Continental Aerial Research Foundation, a Torrington, Connecticut sighting referral, and replies to members of the public. The replies say UFOs are not within FBI jurisdiction and refer writers to the Air Force.

The FBI's 62-HQ-83894 case file includes investigative records, eyewitness testimonies, and public reports concerning Unidentified Flying Objects and flying discs documented between June 1947 and July 1968. The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

I DIRECTOR, FBI 12/19/58 SAC, PHOENIX (62-667) ALBERT K. BENDER MISCELLANEOUS - INFORMATION CONCERNING (Nationalities Intelligence) Re Bureau letter 12/16/58. On 12/19/58, CLAUDE HAROLD MARCK, JR., 7834 No. Loma Land Drive, Scottsdale, Arizona, stated to SAs GEORGE HOLLINGSWORTH and WILLIAM M. DREW that he had a hobby of gathering il'iformation concernipg flying saucers and also gathering information coneerni.ng mysteries of the sea. He stated that any literature written he obtains in order to pursue this hobby. He referred agents to books written by Major DONALD E . .KEYHOE entitled "Flying Saucers from Outer Space" and a book entitled "Flying Saucers Conspiracy . " Botn of these books were published by Henry Holt Company, 383 Madison, New York, 17, New York. Major KRYHOE is a retired Major of the U.S. Marine Corps. Concerru.ng the "Bender Affairh, he· referred agents to the book entitled "They Knew Too Much About Flying Saucers ", written by GRAY BARKER and published by University Books Publisher, April, 1956, third printing June, 1956. According to MARCK, GRff BARKER resides at Clarksberg, West Virginia, P.O. Box 2228 and is a person with whom MARCK corresponds concerning flying saucers as BARKER ia alleged to have a civilian investigative agency handling 11ivest1gat1ons concerning flying saucers. MARCK related that he has corresponded with various harbor masters and the U. s. Navy relative to the "dreadful underground menace which relates to the disappearance of crew and passengers of various ships found floundering 1n the open seas out of control." He stated that BARKER bas also shown interest in this subject matter, however., was unable to :furnish aey rurther amplifying details. The "Bender Affair" is related in the book published by BARKER.
