This section of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's flying saucer file 62-HQ-83894 holds FBI correspondence from 1957 to 1966. It includes a November 1957 memo saying Air Force Intelligence found the post-Sputnik sightings nonauthentic, and a Havana report of a hat-shaped disc over Matahambre, Cuba. It also has inquiries into Robert T. Stone's Inter Continental Aerial Research Foundation, a Torrington, Connecticut sighting referral, and replies to members of the public. The replies say UFOs are not within FBI jurisdiction and refer writers to the Air Force.

The FBI's 62-HQ-83894 case file includes investigative records, eyewitness testimonies, and public reports concerning Unidentified Flying Objects and flying discs documented between June 1947 and July 1968. The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

., ,r PX 62-667 Agents observed at the time they contacted the residence of MARCK, while he was absent therefrom, that his sister, SHIRLEY E. MARCK, carried on exclusive conversation concerning her brother relating that he had been taken out of high school while living in Denver, Colorado, and had been in the service until several months ago . She stated that her brother never had an opportunity since then to complete his schooling and that as of the present time, he was 33 years of age. This information was reiterated several times by her while waiting the arrival of her brother who was with his parents on a local shopping tour . After conversation with MARCK, it was apparent to agents that he is obsessed with gathering information concerning flying saucers and mysteries of the sea. He was admonished severely by his mother for having written to the Bureau without her knowledge. Inquiry was made as to the length of time MARCK spent in the H. s . Army and he was unable to furnish the duration of his enlistment and date of discharge nor furnish his serial number . MARCK made available his discharge paper reflecting that he was inducted in 1943 and discharged in 1946 as Private First Class, Army Serial No. 37-703 -300 . His discharge papers showed that he attended Eas t High School for a period of two years and that he was born 1/21/25 . After conversation with MARCK, it was apparent that the only reason he wrote to the Bureau was in an effort to locate the present whereabouts of ALBERT K. BENDER and he and his family were informed that this Bureau was unable to institute an investigation to ascertain the whereabouts of BENDER . From the admonishment given him by his mother for writing letters to such agencies as the FBI, it would appear that CLAUDE HAROLD MARCK is a 11 chronic 11 , living in a dream world of flying saucers and stor!es of the sea . He was informed that the agents ' contact was an acknowledgment of the Bureau ' s receipt of his letter . Noffinther investigation is being made in this matter. -2-
