This section of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's flying saucer file 62-HQ-83894 holds FBI correspondence from 1957 to 1966. It includes a November 1957 memo saying Air Force Intelligence found the post-Sputnik sightings nonauthentic, and a Havana report of a hat-shaped disc over Matahambre, Cuba. It also has inquiries into Robert T. Stone's Inter Continental Aerial Research Foundation, a Torrington, Connecticut sighting referral, and replies to members of the public. The replies say UFOs are not within FBI jurisdiction and refer writers to the Air Force.

The FBI's 62-HQ-83894 case file includes investigative records, eyewitness testimonies, and public reports concerning Unidentified Flying Objects and flying discs documented between June 1947 and July 1968. The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

Marek , Jr., inquired whether we could furnish him any information concerning the "Bender Affair" and advised he was asking the Bureau since he had recently learned that the } FBI is involved in this affair. Marek explained that Bender formed the International Flying Saucer Bureau in Bridgeport , Connecticut , in 1952 to look into theDflyinq sau.ce.lS. mystery. In 1953 Bender allegedly stated that he knew what the saucers are. Then according to Marek "three men in black suits" silenced Bender to the extent that even today Bender will not discuss the matter of his "hush-up'' with anyone. Marek pointed out he has learned that "the secret of the saucers lies the ' dreadful underground menace' that is threatening the world" and that he has important information concerning this menace . Marek also requested our help in getting in touch with Bender. Bufiles contain no information on Marek . The only identifiable data in our files on Bender is a letter he wrote on 10/26/52 on the letterhead of the International Flying Saucer Bureau to a Mr. L. H. Frahm, Franklin , Indiana, in which he suggested how Frahm could organize a chapter of the Saucer Bureau in Franklin. Al so in Bufiles is· a copy of the January , 1953, magazine "Space Review" which apparently was put out by the Saucer Bureau. This magazine contains numerous articles and squibs concerning the sighting of flying saucers throughout the worl ; It does not appear to have any security significance. , ] RECOMMENDATION: (!) There is a possibility that Marek may be suffering from de lusions; however , in view of the fact that he stated the FBI is involved in a matter of which we are not cognizant as well as the implications in his description of the "hush-up" of Bender , it is recommended he be inter viewed and all information in his possession concerning this incident be obtained so that we can decide whether the facts warrant investigation.
