This section of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's flying saucer file 62-HQ-83894 holds FBI correspondence from 1957 to 1966. It includes a November 1957 memo saying Air Force Intelligence found the post-Sputnik sightings nonauthentic, and a Havana report of a hat-shaped disc over Matahambre, Cuba. It also has inquiries into Robert T. Stone's Inter Continental Aerial Research Foundation, a Torrington, Connecticut sighting referral, and replies to members of the public. The replies say UFOs are not within FBI jurisdiction and refer writers to the Air Force.

The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

HE WATCHED SCENE FOR ABOUT ONE MINUTE, WHEN FLAME WENT OUT.

OFFICER AND RELATED INCIDENT TO HIM.
CAPTAIN VIGIL CONTINUED THAT HE CHECKED SITE AT SEVEN THIRTY PM
FOUR TWENTYSIX LAST, NOTED SCORCHED CIRCULAR AREA ABOUT THIRTY TO
FORTY FEET IN DIAMETER. HE NOTED ONE RECTANGULAR, V SHAPED
INDENTATION IN GROYND, EIGHT BY TWELVE INCHES, AND ABOUT THREE
TO FOUR INCHES DEEP. A FELLOW OFFICER, WHO WAS THERE EARLIER,
POINTED TO PLACES8 OF THREE MORE INDENTATIONS, INDICATING THE
INDENTATIONS VERE RECTANGULAR.
CAPTAIN VIGIL FURTHER STATED HE tsAW SEVERAL SMOOTH
CIRCULAR PRINTS ON GROUND ABOUT THREE AND ONE HALF INCHES IN
DIAMETER AT SITE.
NO OTHER WITNESSES KNOWN TO HAVE OBSERVED THE OBJECT.
