This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 8) collects 1954 and 1957 memoranda, letters and teletypes on flying saucer matters. It includes a Cincinnati report on Thomas Eickhoff's concerns about lectures by Truman Bethurum and George Hunt Williamson, a Milford, Ohio sighting, and a Navy officer's account of Mrs. Frances Swan's claimed messages from outer space. It also records a 1957 Detroit interview with a former prisoner of war who described a circular vehicle that stalled a tractor engine in Germany in 1944.

The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

STRINGFIELD, Director, 7017 Britton Avenue rCincinnati 27, Ohio 1 MISCELLANEOUS - INFORMATION GONCE On March 25 , 1957, LEONARD ~NGFIELD appeared at the Cincinnati Office for the purpose of calling attention to a letter dated March i9#____ 7, which he had received from EV"Jlllo..,•IC,H, M. D. (Mrs. WILLIAM . OIS, Route l, P .O. Box 721, Alexandria, Virginia, telephone South 5-7081). For the information of the Bureau and the Norfolk Office , Mr . STRINGFIELD is presently the Advertising Manager for Dubois Company, Inc., 1120 W. Front Street , Cincinnati, Ohio . According to STRINGFIELD, he has been interested in flying discs or objects for a number of years and has cooperated with the United States Air Force to the extent of furnishing the Air Force with any information on flying objects coming to his attention. Mr . STRING •IELD was also the publisher of a paper called the "Orbit", which carried the following heading : "The official publication of Civilian Research , Interplanetary Flying Objects" . The "Orbit" was a monthly publication which carried information and intelligertce research b7t STRINGFIELD on flying objects. According to STRINGFIELD the 11 0rbit' had a limited circulation. In connection with Dr . REICH 1 s letter, STRINGFIELD stated that prior to the receipt of the letter he received a long distance telephone call from Dr . REICH on March 12, 1957. This call was received by him in the early morning prior to his departure for work. He relate d that Dr . REICH was a subscriber to the 11 0rbit 11 and that during the phone conversationshe made reference to some of his reports which he had published in the "Orbit" and for the most part spoke on matters that were "over his head" and things that he did not understand.
