This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section (62-HQ-83894, Section 8) collects 1954 and 1957 memoranda, letters and teletypes on flying saucer matters. It includes a Cincinnati report on Thomas Eickhoff's concerns about lectures by Truman Bethurum and George Hunt Williamson, a Milford, Ohio sighting, and a Navy officer's account of Mrs. Frances Swan's claimed messages from outer space. It also records a 1957 Detroit interview with a former prisoner of war who described a circular vehicle that stalled a tractor engine in Germany in 1944.

The FBI's 62-HQ-83894 case file includes investigative records, eyewitness testimonies, and public reports concerning Unidentified Flying Objects and flying discs documented between June 1947 and July 1968. The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

• TRU. OPY 12 Hope st. stamford, Conn. October 5, 1956 Mr. J. Edgar Hoover Director of F. B. L Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Hoover: Enclosed is a copy of a Lecture sent to me from Detroit. I think it is the most fascinating Research ever made. In your busy life you may not have encountered it, so I thought I would send you a copy. Why doesn't the Government come out with the truth about unidentified Flying Objects? Everybody seems to accept the "Saucers" as a matter of course, and people are becoming annoyed at the "ostrich stance" our Leaders have taken about them. A number of clergymen feel that the time has come for someone to answer intelligently and sincerely the public's inquiries. They have gone to "The Book' --the Sacred Bible where man can always find the answers to all his needs, doubts, fears--and inquiries I I have heard many people say that you probably have all the answers--but I suppose you have been throttleatoo I'm so glad you refused to accept the invitation to run for President. You would have been a good one--(if you could be let alone)--but sordid Party politics would have engulfed you too much. To the Legions of your admirers you stand too High- are too clean and honest to become so involved. Thanks to Almighty God there are character Influences like you still standing on the same firm ground of our Forefathers. Each day now a few more chips are knocked off the pillars of Learning, High morals, decent behavior and honest standards. Where can it all end?
