This Federal Bureau of Investigation file section, part of file 62-HQ-83894, gathers flying saucer correspondence and memoranda mostly from 1952, with some from 1954. It includes a Savannah River Plant sighting teletype, Hoover replies that send public letters on to the Air Force, a San Diego report on Borderland Sciences, and a laboratory exam of the scoutmaster Desvergers' cap that found no residue. It also covers instructions to refer disc reports to OSI and a 1954 Cincinnati matter involving Truman Bethurum.

The records include high-profile incident accounts, photographic evidence from sites like Oak Ridge, TN, and technical proposals regarding potential propulsion systems. Additional topics include convention programs, researcher accounts, and extensive media coverage from the period. This file is partially posted on FBI vault with more redactions and some pages missing. Included here is the complete case file with several newly declassified pages and only minor redactions.

BACKGBOUNJJ:
You will recall that Air Intelligence has previously
kept the Bureau advised regarding developments pertaining to Air
Intelligence research on the flying saucer problem. Air Intelligence
has previously advised that all researdh p ertaining to this Rroblem
is handled by the Air Tecbnical Inte-Ingence Center located at
W~i"ht-Patt~ca..eJJ-.A.t Force Base, Dayton, Ohio; that approximately
90 per cent of the reported sightings of flying saucers can be
discounted. as products of the imagination and as explainable objects
such as weather balloons, etc., but that a small percentage of
extremely creditable sightings have been unexplainable.
