This is Section 5 of the FBI's flying disk file 62-HQ-83894, made up of 1949 and 1950 correspondence. Most of it covers a letter sent to Walter Winchell by Peter Camerlon Jones, who said he saw a silver top-shaped object near Los Angeles in 1947. The Los Angeles office could not find him, and the Bureau suggested the letter was a prank. The section also holds a Navy intelligence report on 6 or 7 discs seen over southern Oregon on 27 May 1949, plus several letters from citizens.

RELIABILITY OF ADCOCK QUESTIONED DUE TO SOME DEGREE OF INEBRIATION. THESE PERSONS DISCOUNT PROBABILITY. CIC AND OSI CONTINUE INTEREST BUT DO NOT CONTEMPLATE FURTHER ACTION. AEC TOOK STEPS TO HAVE RADAR TECHNICIAN SENT FROM WASH., BELIEVED FROM CIA, BUT NOT YET ARRIVED. ANY FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS WILL BE REPORTED TO BUREAU.
