This is Section 5 of the FBI's flying disk file 62-HQ-83894, made up of 1949 and 1950 correspondence. Most of it covers a letter sent to Walter Winchell by Peter Camerlon Jones, who said he saw a silver top-shaped object near Los Angeles in 1947. The Los Angeles office could not find him, and the Bureau suggested the letter was a prank. The section also holds a Navy intelligence report on 6 or 7 discs seen over southern Oregon on 27 May 1949, plus several letters from citizens.

When informed that Mr. Hoover was not in his office, Mr. Cuneo asked to speak with Mr. Ladd, and after checking the call was transferred, to Mr. Ladd.

Mr. Ladd advises that Mr. Cuneo was calling about the matter he discussed with Mr. Ladd on last Saturday re a flying saucer in California. Mr. Cuneo asked if he could release the story. He was told that this was up to him
