This is Section 5 of the FBI's flying disk file 62-HQ-83894, made up of 1949 and 1950 correspondence. Most of it covers a letter sent to Walter Winchell by Peter Camerlon Jones, who said he saw a silver top-shaped object near Los Angeles in 1947. The Los Angeles office could not find him, and the Bureau suggested the letter was a prank. The section also holds a Navy intelligence report on 6 or 7 discs seen over southern Oregon on 27 May 1949, plus several letters from citizens.

When informed of Mr. Hoover's and Mr. Ladd's absence from their office, Mr. Cuneo declined to speak to anyone else and stated that he was just following up on a conversation he had with Mr. Ladd over the weekend. He asked that Mr. Ladd be informed of his call.
